Foster's mother died of cancer when she was nine years old and her father, worked two jobs in order for her to go to school, he later died from complications from a heart attack.
Foster became a nurse hired by Dr. Donald Blake for his medical practice. Blake was the human identity used for by the Asgardian, Thor. Blake fell in love with Foster, who was unaware that he is the God of Thunder. Blake contemplated revealing his true identity to Jane, However, Odin contacted Thor telepathically and warned him against doing so.
Thor continued to ask Odin to allow him to marry Jane Foster, but the all father refused. However Odin told Thor that should Jane prove herself to be brave, he would make her an immortal.
Blake decided to reveal his identity to Foster, but his father, Odin forbade him to reveal this secret to any mortal. Even though Odin tried for a long time to quash the romance between the two, he ordered her life to be saved when she lay dying following an explosion.
Foster truly loved Blake, and told him that she would not wait forever for him to express how he felt. Thor intended to marry Foster, but Odin forbade him to marry her as she was a mortal.

Dr. Erik Selvig is a Danish scientist, and leading expert on the Cosmic Cube working for S.H.I.E.L.D.'s Kobik Initiative. Selvig was asked to run the project following the death of its overseer Dr. Fowler who died following violent merging of the Cosmic Cube into a single being. This being adopted the form and mentality of a young child and was named Kobik, and Selvig became its caretaker.
Selvig was a character created for the movie who subsequently was added into the Marvel comics line.

Odin's origin is shrouded in mystery. Odin was presumed to be the son of Bor and a giantess Bestla, who also had three other sons, Cul, Vili and Ve.
Vili, Ve, and Odin journeyed into the realm of the Fire Giant Surtur when they were attacked, fearing they would not escape Vili and Ve sacrificed themselves to help Odin escape Surtur's realm. as a result Odin's powers grew as his brothers' powers merged with his.
Odin fought a powerful cosmic storm called the God Tempest that threatened Asgard. Odin defeated the God Tempest and sealed it away into a chunk of Uru Metal that he would one day have forged into the mighty hammer Mjolnir for his son Thor.

The Destroyer is an enchanted suit of Armour created by Odin initially to defeat a menace from beyond the stars but since has been used in Odin's Treasure room as a level of security for the more dangerous relics. The Destroyer has been used by Loki on several occasions to battle Thor coming close to beating him on occasion.

After a failed attempt by the Frost Giants to attack Asgard, Odin felt a strong warrior was needed to guard the rainbow bridge and protect the citizens and held trials with 3 warriors to prove their worth, Agnar the Fierce, Gotron the Agile and Heimdall. Heimdall was eventually chosen as he is able to see and hear across time and predicting any coming attack.

Thor arrives in Jotunheim where he confronts King Laufey. The encounter erupts into violence but as they fight Loki discovers that the Frost Giant powers do not affect him.

Laufey realizing the fight is not going their way awakens
a monster to destroy them. Thor rescues his friends by smashing through its mouth.

When they return to Asgard, Thor argues with Odin
argue about his actions. Odin angered by Thor's
arrogance and warmongering ways, banishes him to Earth and sends Mjolnir after
him to wait for a worthy holder.

Thor wakes up having been hit by Fosters car and yells to Odin to return him to Asgard freaked out Darcy tasers him. As the carry Thor away Mjolnir crashes into the desert.

The next day a couple of friends find Mjolnir buried in the sand in the desert one of the men attempt to move it but a deemed unworthy and can't.

While Jane tries to get more information, Thor over hears about a satellite that can't be
moved, Thor realizing this is Mjolnir goes to get it back. Leaving Thor, Foster arrives back at her lab to find Agent Coulson of S.H.I.E.L.D. taking all of her reasearch.

Sif and the warriors three attempt to petition Loki to allow Thor to return and end his banishment, Loki refuses to allow this

Barton grew up working in his father's Butchers shop in Waverly, Iowa with his brother, Barney. Their father was an alcoholic and was abusive beating the brothers. Barney taught Clint how to improve his aim.
Clint's parents die in a car crash due to his alcoholism. Clint and Barney escaped from their foster home joining a traveling circus where he practiced his aim further. In the years that followed Clint would fall out with ethe members of the circus as well as his brother.
Clint became a master archer called "Hawkeye". Witnessing Iron Man in action, Barton donned a colorful costume and used his archery skills to fight crime. but in his first outing he was mistaken for a thief, The Black Widow enlisted him as her partner. Later Hawkeye was unhappy being a criminal and asked the Avengers if he could join, Iron Man sponsored his membership on the team.

to the vault to distract people from Thor's coronation and tells Laufey that he
will conceal a group of giants into Asgard to kill Odin

tells him that he could not see him in Yodenheim and Loki tells him that he is
sworn to obey him as king

Sif and the
warriors three decide that
they have to find Thor even though in doing so they are committing treason. As they discuss their actions Heimdall calls them to the Bifrost to be opened.

Loki
activates The Destroyer and sends him to Earth to kill Thor, Sif and the Warriors Three on earth. Heimdall
confronts Loki and is frozen by the casket of eternal winter

The
Destroyer arrives on earth where it is stopped by Coulson and SHIELD believing it to be a suit created by Tony Stark. Loki activates the Destroyer and it attacks them.

Thor, Foster, Selvig and Darcy evacuate the town as The Destroyer approaches. Sif and the
warriors three attempt to defeat it but fail. Thor
confronts the destroyer himself to try and make Loki stop his attack but it
fails and the Destroyer strikes him mortally wounding him.

As Thor sacrifices himself for the town Mjolnir, now considers Thor worthy and flies from its crater. Thor now fully restored again, quickly dispatches the Destroyer.

Coulson and SHIELD arrive to debrief Thor but he barters for Janes research back.

Thor tries to activates the Bifrost but Heimdall is still frozen, breaking himself free,
Heimdall activates the Bifrost to return them home

arrives back as Laufey attempts to kill Odin, but Loki intervenes killing

Loki
attempts to destroy Yodenheim using the Bifrost as Thor tries to stop him. Thor destroys the rainbow bridge and the power that connects
it, causing it to fall into space. Odin
catches Thor and Loki as they dangle over the edge but Loki lets go
falling into space.

Trapped on Asgard Thor misses Jane and is distant as the celebration around him is in full swing.

Fury tells him that his work is impressive and shows him the Tesseract
recovered during the search for Captain America, but secretly unknown to Fury Selvig is under the control of Loki who appears to have survived the fall.
